Converted by Parker Construction from a multi-family home to a single-family artist's cottage, personality abounds in this oceanfront summer home.

The exterior of this historic colonial was preserved and improved with the addition of several new ipe and mahogany paths and patios over beach sand with a natural beach grass lawn. The verticality of the house is emphasized by the long wooden balusters comprising the rail systems on the decks coming off of each of the home's three upper levels.

Inside, the house underwent a complete transformation from multi-family building into a modern, open, single-family space. To accommodate the open floor plan, PCCI installed a steel skeleton in order to reinforce the structure while maintaining the home's historical integrity.

The new interior boasts beautiful sightlines underscored by high-end finishes and unique touches which include a one-piece solid bathtub carved from a block of Perlato Svevo marble; this tub had to be lifted via crane to the home's second floor master bath. Featured throughout the cottage are built-in millwork cabinetry and paneling, stunning tile, and semi-precious stone countertops. Exotic woods like Australian cypress mingle with recycled materials like harvested antique old growth oak; plush textures mix with crisp woodwork; brightly colored furnishings pop against the hand-glazed walls. All of these details come together, illustrating the design intent of this home: to mix modern with historic, whimsy with form and function.
