Classic East Side Renovation
Providence, RI
In the spring of 2014, Parker Construction began renovations to this classic East Side home. The new owners wanted to transform the kitchen into a wide open space to allow natural light to flow through and illuminate the new custom cabinetry and marble counter tops.
In order to maximize space on the 1st floor, an office nook was tucked away just off of the new kitchen alongside the new powder room; the nook features a custom desk while the the powder room boasts a new boutique vanity with complementary Benetino marble top and floor tile.
What had been a sitting room in the master suite was reworked into a generous closet/changing room with custom woodwork running from floor to ceiling. On the opposite side, a new master bathroom was configured with his and hers vanities made of the same marble used in the 1st floor powder room. A large soaking tub was installed, which, at just the right time of day, finds itself drenched in sunlight.
At the start the third floor was a dark, unused part of the house containing a former butler’s quarters; all of the interior walls were taken down and a new media center was created — home theater, wet bar, and game room. What had an isolated part of the house is now a warm and inviting social destination.
