Nestled in the picturesque mountains of upstate New York, this seasonal home was built in the region’s classic Adirondack style, boasting a red cedar shingled exterior and painted evergreen trim. The residence is designed as a retreat for family and friends looking to get away from it all by spending some time in the great outdoors.

The first floor opens to a timber-framed great room as sweeping as it is rustic; as wood covers nearly every surface, it’s notable that the majority of lumber used in this home is reclaimed, including vintage elm, walnut, cypress, and oak, salvaged from old barns and other wooden structures from within the state of New York.

Off the great room, the first floor’s kitchen is well-appointed with built-in appliances finished with painted millwork panels; a subway tile backsplash adds a bit of sleekness to this otherwise pastoral kitchen.

The home’s bucolic aesthetic mixes with modern sensibility as an additional chef’s kitchen is tucked downstairs on the lower level complete with a center butcher’s block-style island, floor to ceiling cabinetry, and large appliances. In addition, a game room, home spa, complete with sauna and outdoor hot tub, and bunk room combine to accomplish the owner’s desire to create a getaway fit for entertaining.

Throughout the house there are nods to the region in which it is located with traditional Adirondack twig and bark detailing. The outside is brought inside with specific details including indoor shingles and a wall in the spa made from the same stone as seen on the building’s exterior. Similarly, a single fieldstone chimney connects the home’s indoor fireplace in the great room with its outdoor fireplace on the back patio.
