This completely customized arts and crafts home was brought to life by Parker Construction working in tandem with Newport Collaborative Architects and Taylor Interior Design. The goal was to make the exterior of this new construction look completely at home on the Aquidneck Island coast; to this end, both the cedar shingles and exterior copper were weathered, aging the look of the house.

Inside, evidence of the home’s nautical theme is in abundance: from the game room built to mimic a ship’s hull complete with portholes, deadlights, and mast; to the boat shaped bathtub in the children’s bathroom; and decorative details throughout. In addition to his playful theme, the house is outfitted with a modern automation system which controls everything from the TVs to the HVAC equipment.

Red Maple also boasts an arts and crafts room for the children on the lower, an open library on the second floor, along with custom millwork which is accented with stone countertops and contrasting trim. A matching carriage house and free-standing western red cedar hot tub with deck also populate the grounds.
