Our CSD Technicians do whatever it takes to make our clients happy.

It's a new year, and we're singing the praises of our Client Services Division Technicians. Our CSD guys are amazingly talented and can expertly complete any job laid before them.

In addition to regular warranty and house maintenance, our CSD team will do whatever it takes to make clients happy. As Master Technician Briston Bell says, "Our job is to get in, do the job, and get out so the client doesn't even know we were there."

CSD can create customized personalized touches for your home to make your life easier. One of CSD's past projects was to build a dog-owning client a customized "Poopy Box" in his yard. Complete with a dog bone shaped handle, this special waste receptacle is just for the dog's business. Not only did CSD build the box, but they come by monthly to collect and dispose of its contents.

CSD can take care all of your home needs, whether you need some customized woodworking, like pedestals to display your artwork, or a backyard children's playset put together, Parker Construction's CSD Technicians have the expertise!

Demystifying Geothermal Heat Pumps
Design innovations in HVAC equipment are breathing new life into a technology that has been around for decades. Geothermal systems are revolutionizing the way both commercial and residential properties are heated and cooled. Due to rising oil and gas prices, traditional fuel fired equipment is becoming more costly to operate. Carbon monoxide emissions are also concerns with fuel burning equipment. In addition to significant savings in fuel cost, maintenance costs can be lowered by as much as 30% over “conventional” systems. A geothermal heat pump system is an environmentally friendly, low profile, low maintenance, energy efficient, cost effective alternative to fossil fuel burning systems with a positive cash flow starting on day one.

Parker Construction completes a stunning shingle style renovation

Shingle Style Renovation

Parker Construction completes a stunning shingle style renovation in Southern Rhode Island.

This seasonal home is the perfect retreat from the city with an infinity edge pool and sweeping views of the ocean. Parker Construction transformed an older outdated home into a quintessential Rhode Island residence.

The first floor was completely renovated into a more open floor plan to allow for flow from the kitchen, to the dining room, sun room and living room. Magnificent millwork was completed in the kitchen and dining room to showcase the homeowner's china, and to surround the fireplaces. White dormer ceilings throughout the first floor add a simple elegance to every room. The floors are refinished red oak with a dark stain making a beautiful contrast with the white walls and marble of the kitchen.

A lower level was developed into more livable space by creating a kids' room,  laundry room, exercise and weight room, bathroom and storage facility. The mechanicals were redone, including electrical, Audio and Visual, and plumbing. Closed circuit TV surveillance is installed throughout the house with monitors in the master suite and mudroom, with the ability to view remotely, so homeowners can check on their home from anywhere, anytime.

Additionally a 500 square foot shingle style cabana was built on the pool deck, where homeowner and guests can lounge poolside and enjoy the warmth from outdoor fireplaces.

Mike and Lane at the Barn Raising
Mike from New Energy Works and interior designer
Lane Myer at the barn raising.

To celebrate and thank our partners for the work we've been doing on a large timberframed barn in southern Rhode Island, we threw an old fashioned barn raising. We invited everyone who has worked on the project with us to join in as we set the final pieces of the timberframe, which as expertly carried out by New Energy Works.

There was a fantastic turn out despite the event coinciding with our first big snowfall of the year. Guests kept warm inside the structure, and just in case anyone forgot their winter coat, Parker Construction handed out commemorative Barn Raising sweatshirts.

PC lends a hand for Habitat for Humanity

Parker Construction put together a build team to assist Habitat for Humanity lay a floor system for a new home in Providence's south side. The Habitat coordinators were impressed with the amount of work we did in such a short period of time. Our 5 person team had accomplished in one Saturday what it had taken other teams to do in three.  Everything was plumb, level and square.

Executive Vice President Tammy Borges was thrilled by the build day. "Our entire team was proud of our accomplishment but more so because it is for a good cause. For those of you who have not had the experience, we hope you will consider it."

PC announces completion of oceanfront home

To be featured in the Provincetown’s Pilgrim Monument Historic House Tour, September 2008.

Bathroom
Parker Construction is celebrating the completion of a modern, oceanfront residence in Provincetown, Massachusetts. This 4,000 square foot home was a major historic renovation for the firm.

Parker Construction converted this multi-family home into a single family artist’s cottage. The historic colonial exterior was preserved, while the interior underwent a complete renovation into a modern, open space. Extraordinary millwork, stunning tile, and precious stones feature throughout the entire cottage. Exotic woods, such as Australian cypress were used, as well as recycled materials such as harvested antique old growth oak for the flooring.

To accommodate the client’s request for an open floor plan, Parker Construction installed a steel skeleton which was designed to meet building and structural requirements. A formidable challenge was integrating the historical exterior with the modern interior infrastructure while maintaining code compliance and the historical integrity of the home.

Parker Construction launches green building challenge

Parker Construction, the general contractor and construction management firm, has launched an internal green building challenge to educate their project managers and other personnel about new green building products, methods, and techniques.

This spring, a company analysis culled that employees were interested in continued education about the building industry and specifically about green technologies. The executive team responded with a challenge for all employees — interested personnel would be spilt into 5 teams of 5, and asked to present a proposed green residence. Of the five proposed projects one will be chosen to be built in the Great Woods neighborhood of East Greenwich.

The challenge has sparked a competitive atmosphere in the office while each team secretly devises their game plan, including site selection for the residence, design schematics, preliminary drawings and specifications as well as a proposed construction schedule. The teams will be competing for best overall design.

By fall, a winning green project will be selected, and construction on the green residence will begin before the end of 2008.
