Residences at the Thomas Jenckes House

Providence, College Hill Condominium Conversion

The Jenckes House renovation is a four unit condominium conversion of a 19th century building in the heart of Providence. A stair tower has been built to replicate the original and great care has been taken to maintain the buildings historical integrity. The tower will be accessed by an upper and lower lobby of period inspired design, modernized with keyless/ intercom entries. A programmed secure elevator will open directly into each unit’s private vestibule.

Owners will have a five minute walk to the Brown University Campus and the Rhode Island School of Design and a short stroll to many of Providence’s superb restaurants, the financial district and the city shopping areas.

The following link is to a column written by David Brussat a “Providence Journal” columnist. David’s column is meant to give you historical perspective of the project as well as establish a renovation baseline. We regret not having your participation from the project outset. Luckily, a much better writer and a more knowledgeable historian was there at the right time and the right place. Click here to read column.

The 3rd floor Master Bedroom grandiose eleven foot high ceilings with replicated moldings, original marble fireplace surround and mantel converted with a working look-a-like coal burning gas inset, and custom colors chosen to complement the mantel's veining.
The highest degree of architectural standards are adhered to in the custom cabinetry throughout the project. This is the magnificent built-in hutch in the kitchen. The hutch features radius top cabinet doors, granite counter (which matches both the island and surrounding counters), and both under counter and cabinet dimmer controlled halogen lighting.
Also on the 3rd floor this piece was designed either to serve as an in home office or dressing area. Features include Emporador Dark granite coutner surface, authentic looking seedy glass cabinet doors, beautiful bronze hardware, and power/data/& coaxial. The space connects the living room with the master bedroom and also has very spacioous closets opposing the custom cabinetry.
